‘A public-private partnership for Drug Discovery in Spain’

Fundación MEDINA is a non-profit research organization established in the Health Sciences Technological Park of Granada, Spain, as a public-private partnership between Merck Sharp and Dohme de España, S.A., the Andalusian Government and the University of Granada.

MEDINA offers a unique platform for drug discovery with activities focused on:

  • drug discovery programs from microbial natural products in strategic therapeutic areas
  • preclinical safety evaluation of drug candidates

MEDINA is actively seeking to establish collaborative agreements that could bring lead candidates into the preclinical stage in strategic therapeutic areas:

‘Our public-private model offers a privileged position to establish successful partnering relationships with research groups in the academic and biopharmaceutical sectors’

MEDINA is currently developing drug discovery research programs derived from its internal research or through collaborations with international research groups in academic and public international research institutions, as well as with the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and agrochemical sectors.
